DANIEL KALKER

Finding the cinematic
in the everyday.

Hi, I'm Daniel, a photographer based in Cologne, working across urban life, architecture, and brands in Europe and East Asia.

I've always been drawn to the frame within the frame: a doorway, a gap in a wall, a reflection, the moment a city reveals itself through something you'd normally walk past. That instinct comes from a lifelong love of film, and it shapes every image I take. Photography, for me, isn't about documenting what a place looks like. It's about capturing what it feels like to stand there.

For the past 15 years, I've been an exclusive contributor to picture alliance (dpa, the German Press Agency), building an archive of more than 10,000 images along the way. Whether it's a metropolis at night or a quiet architectural detail, the goal stays the same: tell the story of that space.
